Brookville Main Street’s newest business and ice cream shop, “The Daily Scoop,” has seen a line out the door since opening on Saturday, May 29, and summer has yet to officially begin.

On opening weekend, the Daily Scoop served 1725 scoops of ice cream and 531 waffle cones despite unfavorable weather conditions.

“We thought it would be great to launch it (Daily Scoop) on a holiday weekend when everyone would be visiting town and walking Main Street,” said owner Amy Noah. “But, we were surprised with the turnout we had regardless of the weekend being kind of cold and rainy.”

The Daily Scoop is located within the old Popper’s building at 515 Main Street, Brookville. However, before the Daily Scoop could open, a restoration process of the inside of the building began. As the process began, architectural treasures were discovered, such as the original tin ceiling and tile design at the front door that says, “walk-in.”

“We were originally supposed to open May 1, but when we started remodeling, we found the archway and ceiling,” Noah explained. “It was important to us to take our time to ensure preservation of the historical integrity of the building.”

The historic nuances were rescued, and can now be seen by residents and tourists while visiting the Daily Scoop. The large archway, now exposed, was covered by drywall and drop ceilings prior to the remodel and was yet another unexpected surprise to Noah, but one she would ensure remained. The naming of the business also came with history. The Daily Scoop name is in honor of Donald “Scoop” Sintz, who spent his life dedicated to the newspaper just next door.

“Scoop has done so much for not only us personally, but also the town of Brookville,” Noah said. “We thought the name was the perfect way to tie into the newspaper as well as honor Don’s memory.”

Every weekend since opening, the Daily Scoop has run out of ice cream, as families have continued to pour in. Noah explained she and the team are diligently working to expand to ensure there is enough storage space and supplies available to make additional ice cream and waffle cones to meet demand and extend hours.

All of the hand-scooped ice cream and waffle cones are made right within the building and contain a 14% dairy content which attributes to the creamy texture and great flavor. The Daily Scoop offers 20 different rotating ice cream flavors. So far, according to Noah, the top sellers have been Blueberry Cheesecake and Chocolate Brownie, and top pick for kids, cotton candy.
Other treats will be offered soon when visiting the new main street business, including homemade ice cream sandwiches, brownie sundaes, and ice cream pies. Flavors coming to rotation soon will be Key Lime Pie, Mint Chocolate Chip and Cherry Cordial.

Current hours of operation are Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Noah does have plans to be open on some week days and will keep hours updated on the Daily Scoop Facebook page.

“I love seeing suggestions on Facebook and chatter what people would like to see,” said Noah. “ We are just so happy to be here and love the feedback we are receiving!”
